CMD BSNL has approved Rs.3,000/- as PLI payment for 2014 – 15. This proposal is being placed before the next Management Committee meeting, which is likely to be held next week.

22.09.2016]Implement the pay scales and other recommendations of the 7th CPC, to the unabsorbed Group ‘C’& ‘D’ employees in BSNL.

The new pay scales and other recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission is already implemented in respect of the ITS officers and other officers of the DoT, working in BSNL. However, these are not implemented in respect of the unabsorbed Group ‘C’& ‘D’ employees of the DoT, working in BSNL. This issue has already been taken up with the Director (HR). On 07.09.2016, com. P. Abhimanyu, GS and com. Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS, discussed the issue with the Director (HR) and have insisted her to immediately settle the issue.<<view letter>>  

21.09.2016]After heavy delay, Union Cabinet finally approved Rs.1,250 crore compensation to BSNL.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved Rs.1,250 crore as compensation for the loss BSNL has incurred in operating rural landline connections. This compensation is for the landlines installed prior to 1st April, 2002. Even though this compensation became due in 2013-14 itself, there was inordinate delay in government's approving the same.  Forum of BSNL unions and Associations has conducted several struggles, demanding payment of this compensation. However, the Cabinet has also decided that this is the last and final payment of compensation to BSNL, and that no further financial support from the USO Fund will be made on this count.<<view press information bureau report>> 

[21.09.2016]Non-allotment of funds by Corporate Office for payment of GPF advance.

Difficulties have arisen this month, in the allotment of funds to circles, by the Corporate Office, for the payment of GPF advance. The DoT has not reimbursed a big amount that BSNL has already spent for the payment of GPF advance. Together with this, the acute shortage of funds in the Corporate Office has complicated the problem. General Secretary has already pressed the CMD BSNL and GM (T&BFCI) for allotment of this month’s funds. The General Secretary has once again drawn the attention of the CMD BSNL today, on this matter. 

[21.09.2016]10 crore calls per day, are failing on Reliance Jio networks.

Earlier it was reported that 2 crore calls per day were failing on the Reliance Jio networks. Today's media report say that Reliance Jio’s call failures have increased to a whopping 10 crore calls per day. The Reliance Jio has accused that the leading incumbent operators, viz., Airtel, Vodafone and Idea cellular are not providing sufficient interconnection points (PoIs), which is the reason for the call failures. It has further said that these incumbent operators are not co-operating on Mobile Number Portability also.

[10.09.2016]Supply of the requisite quantity of stores and materials is key to improve the quality of landline services - CMD BSNL told.

In the meeting held between the CMD BSNL and the unions and associations on 08-09-2016, the representatives of BSNLEU pointed out to the CMD BSNL that, shortage of stores and materials is plaguing the efforts of the employees to carry out maintenance works, to improve the quality of landline and broadband services. The representatives pointed out the stores and materials that are in short supply. The CMD BSNL assured to take needful action.
